What is the NZ Standard 2772:1 1999
The New Zealand standard NZS2772:1 1999 is currently in accordance with those recommended by the International Committee for Non-Ionising Radiation Protection (ICNIRP). It sets out limits for exposure to the radiofrequency radiation produced by all types of radio transmitters for people exposed at work and for the general public.
Concerns with current approach
‘The NZ Standard (1999) is out-dated and protects only against short-term, (6 minute), temperature change which may be accompanied by heating (thermal) effects of RF-EMR such as burns or internal cooking of the body.
It provides no protection against low level, chronic, long-term biological effects of RF-EMR that occur without significant temperature change’
